Ronda Jean Rousey born February 1, 1987) is an American mixed martial artist, judoka, and actress. She is the former UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion, as well as the last Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Champion. She has won eleven of her fights in the first round, nine of them by armbar. Rousey was the first U.S. woman to earn an Olympic medal in judo (Bronze) at the Summer Olympics in Beijing in 2008. Rousey trains under Gokor Chivichyan of the Hayastan MMA Academy, and Edmond Tarverdyan of the Glendale Fighting Club.[4] In 2015, she was the third most searched person on Google.[5]

As of December 2015, Rousey is ranked the #1 female bantamweight fighter in the world according to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC),[6] and #2 by Sherdog and Fight Matrix.[7][8] Sherdog lists her as the #3 Pound for Pound Women's MMA fighter in the world,[9] while ESPN and Fight Matrix list her #4 female Pound for Pound fighter.[10][11]

In May 2015, two magazines ranked Rousey as the most dominant active athlete.[12][13][14] Rousey was voted on an ESPN poll as the Best Female Athlete Ever.[15] In September 2015, she revealed that she is currently the UFC's highest paid fighter, male or female.[16][17] Rousey's first feature film role was the 2014 film The Expendables 3.[18] In 2015, she had roles in the films Furious 7[19] and Entourage.

The 2016 Summer Olympics (Portuguese: Jogos Olímpicos de Verão de 2016),[1] officially known as the Games of the XXXI Olympiad, and commonly known as Rio 2016, are a major international multi-sport event that will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. Record numbers of countries and sets of medals are awaiting in the games. More than 10,500 athletes from 206 National Olympic Committees (NOCs), including from Kosovo and South Sudan at first time, will take part in this sporting event.[2] With 306 sets of medals, the games will feature 28 Olympic sports — including rugby sevens and golf, which were added by the International Olympic Committee in 2009. These sporting events will take place on 33 venues in host city and additionally on 5 venues in the cities of São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Salvador, Brasília, country's capital and Manaus.[2]

The host city of Rio de Janeiro was announced at the 121st IOC Session held in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 2 October 2009. The other finalists were Madrid, Spain; Chicago, United States; and Tokyo, Japan. Rio will become the first South American city to host the Summer Olympics, the second city in Latin America to host the event after Mexico City in 1968, and the first since 2000 in the Southern Hemisphere.
